For effective and environmentally-friendly construction

Knauf AMF unites a company history spanning over 120 years with the most modern product know-how. As a long-standing partner for our customers, we have superior knowledge of the requirements and characteristics of the construction industry. Therefore, we invest all of our strength into the continuous testing and improvement of our production equipment and methods. Only by doing so are we also able to meet the highest quality demands on a continual basis – and to redefine them time and again.

We take pride in our fast pace of innovation, our comprehensive product portfolio, and our employees who, with their great personal dedication, are the drivers for our shared success. However, the most important aspect of everything we create is the satisfaction of our national and international customers. This also includes expert on-site support that our globally operating business guarantees.

With headquarters in Grafenau in Bavaria, Germany, Knauf AMF now has roughly 600 employees in its 30 subsidiaries and representative offices worldwide. Our total capacity is 65 million square metres of ceiling tiles and 220 million linear metres of grid each year.

The fact that our company’s headquarters is located in the Bavarian Forest National Park is a coincidence – and a responsibility at the same time. We place a particularly high value on environmentally friendly production. As a technology leader, we believe that preserving and protecting nature and it's resources is a high priority. As an expression of this commitment, we are DIN EN ISO 14001 certified. For really good construction with a really good conscience.

From the Paper Mill to the Innovation Leader in Ceiling SystemsOur history

  • 1963

Knauf AMF GmbH & Co. KG has a very long history – after all, it was founded in 1889 as Atex Papierfabrik, a paper mill in the Bavarian town of Grafenau. In 1963, the company took a step that would alter its history: it began producing mineral wool boards at the Atex plant, which led to the founding of AMF Mineralplatten GmbH Betriebs KG in 1970 and the full separation from Atex in 1985.

  • 1995

AMF joined the Knauf Management Company in 1995, with the full takeover in 2002. The rapid growth of the company continued into the following years – for example, by 2003, Knauf AMF acquired the entire premises of the former Atex plants and, by 2005, established with Factory II a completely new location and doubled its annual production capacity to 50 million square metres of ceiling tiles.

  • 2006

In 2006, Forum AMF was opened as a highly advanced centre for training and innovation. The new research and development centre was added in 2009. Also, by 2009, the production capacity at Factory II increased to 35 million square metres of ceiling tiles – accompanied by another significant expansion of the product range. Factory III was added in 2010 as our own production facility for sub-constructions of the Ventatec® brand. Its capacity is at 30 million linear metres of grid.

  • 2013

Knauf AMF also continued to grow in 2013. For one, Knauf AMF acquired the Heradesign® business unit from its partner Knauf Insulation. On the other hand, Knauf AMF acquired the European business units from USG and from Donn®, the market leader in ceiling sub-constructions.

  • Today

Today the company has 600 employees in its 30 subsidiaries and representative offices worldwide. Knauf AMF can.
