The new museum, in the form of a rolled-up carpet, opened at the end of 2013. As a country with a long tradition of carpet making, the building is the first ever museum complex in Azerbaijan.

In the distinctive building planned by the architects Hoffmann - Janz GmbH, a total of 2262 m² Cement Board Outdoor panels were used. In addition, 1870 m² Cleaneo Akustik panels and 3795 m² Knauf Diamant panels were installed.
